Denise
A. Gage, MA, CCC/SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT, President, Primary
Speech Language Pathologist
Mrs. Gage is a board licensed, certified speech/language
pathologist and licensed spoken language specialist, LSLS, and
certified auditory/verbal therapist. Her practice was
established in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in September of 1986.
Mrs. Gage received her Bachelor of Science
degree in speech and hearing from Bradley University in Peoria,
Illinois. She earned her Master of Arts degree in
speech/language pathology at the University of Texas at Austin
where she specialized in aural habilitation. She was one of the
first therapists to become certified as an auditory/verbal
therapist in July of 1994.
As an auditory verbal therapist, Mrs. Gage
believes strongly that every family should be informed of the
educational options available to hearing impaired children; and
further that each family has a right to choose the option that
they feel is appropriate for their family and/or child. It is
her personal bias that an auditory/verbal approach be selected
as the first option. She feels that parental involvement is
critical to the success of any program and insists on parent
participation in therapy sessions.
Mrs. Gage has had extensive professional,
as well as personal involvement with the hearing impaired. Her
brother and two sisters are profoundly deaf. She has served as a
Board member of the Texas Alexander Graham Bell Association and
as a member of the Texas Speech and Hearing Association for the
Hearing Impaired Task Force.
