Fast ForWord

Life Changing Results in 8 to 12 Weeks.

Language and Reading intervention products scientifically validated to work.

Language and reading mastery are among the most difficult challenges a child faces. When a child listens, talks, or reads, he or she must use multiple brain areas. These areas become organized with time and experience. But for some children, this process can be laborious and often lead to low self-esteem and years of academic struggle. While there is nothing that can replace the benefits of a supportive environment, neuroscience research has proven that if a child’s brain is ready to learn, he or she will learn.

The Scientific Learning family of products work by improving the efficiency of the brain’s processing with intensive exercises that adapt to each student’s level. Processing efficiency is how the brain functions to support learning and intellectual activity, including memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing.

Scientific Learning’s science and technology-based solutions are available in more than 44 countries to help struggling readers accelerate their learning and reach their potential. More than 1,000 schools across the United States currently implement Reading Assistant® software and almost 1.5 million students have used the Fast ForWord® program worldwide.

Fast ForWord software develops brain processing efficiency through intensive, adaptive exercises which
strengthen the cognitive skills
essential for learning.

Reading Assistant software uses speech recognition technology to listen to your child acting as a patient listener for struggling, self-conscious readers.

Intervention products that build the processing skills needed for reading and learning

Based on over 30 years of scientific research, the Fast ForWord® family of products have been proven to be an effective intervention that builds learning capacity. These products evolved from the work of four internationally renowned research scientists. Their research in the science of brain plasticity, a concept that the brain changes as we learn new skills, allowed them to develop a patented technology used in today’s Fast ForWord® software products.

The LANGUAGE v2 series includes fun, engaging characters ready to motivate users to achieve their personal best.
The Fast ForWord® program develops and strengthens memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing—the cognitive skills essential for learning and reading success. The strengthening of these skills results in a wide range of improved critical language and reading skills such as phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, working memory, syntax, grammar, and other skills necessary to learn how to read or to become a better reader.

Students average a one to two year gain in reading achievement in 8-12 weeks after using Fast ForWord software!*

As a child works, the system makes records of what, how much, and how well they have read, reporting on problem words, fluency, comprehension, and usage.

Guided Oral Reading through advanced Speech - Recognition

Scientific Learning Reading Assistant combines advanced speech recognition technology with the latest reading science to help even reluctant readers strengthen their vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension to become proficient, confident readers. As a child reads aloud, the program “listens,” providing help at just the right moment.

A child can begin by listening to a model reading of the text. They can also click on words for pronunciations, contextually appropriate meanings and usages, illustrations, and Spanish translations. With the goal of strengthening their understanding and learning, comprehension activities direct a child’s attention to critical information and vocabulary. When the child finishes reading, the text is color-coded to show areas in need of review before re-reading.
