if you are concerned about your child's speech and language development here is an easy checklist.

An 18 month old may need to see a speech and language pathologist if he or she is not:

-Does not use the word no

-Does not use 10 or more words

-Does not understand the use of names of familiar objects (ie: doggy, ball, bed, car)

-Does not take turns when playing with a partner

-Never answers a question with "what is this?"

-Does not us toys for pretend play

-Does not understand simple commands

-Is not pointing to pictures in books (ie: animals, toys, household objects)
